A British government job agency has stirred up quite a bit of controversy over certain job postings. World Wide people are being affect by the crappy economy and some people are getting creative with ways to earn a living. Well the government’s Jobcentre Plus agency was simply helping to facilitate that by listing 350 jobs within the sex industry.

With the success Kentucky Gov Steve Beshear has had with seizing online gambling domains, will the online porn industry become his next target? Radley Balko, a specialist in civil liberties issues, thinks this is exactly what will happen.

East Bay Making a Play for More Pay

With the slumping economy and a grim budget crisis, State Assembly member Alberto Torrico is taking another crack at taxing consumers of adult entertainment. A previous bill proposing a 25% tax on all adult products and productions had been attempted, but was defeated in August ’08.

Should the Adult Industry be Concerned Over Obama’s AG Pick?

President-Elect Obama’s choice for U.S. Attorney General has got the adult industry on edge. The man in question is Eric Holder and he has a rather conservative past. In 1998 he wrote a memo, referred to as “The Holder Memo”, on obscenity prosecutions and has met with various religio-conservative pro-censorship groups.

N.H Says Paying for Sex is Okay as Long as It’s Not Satisfying

The New Hampshire Supreme Court ruled that a man who offered to pay two adults to make a porn movie is not guilty of prostitution. The reason- there was no evidence that he was satisfying his own sexual pleasure. The act of making a porno is protected as free speech under the state’s constitution, but their vague prostitution law seems to cause issues for these protected activities.

Brit’s Vague Porn Ban May do More Harm then Good

The British are imposing a new law that will criminalize possession of extreme porn. This means that anyone caught with porn depicting violence, sex with animals or corpses could get jail time. So what’s the problem then? Well in typical government fashion, the law is vague and could affect adults who enjoy consensual fetish play.

ISPs May Have to Police Child Porn

Assuming President Bush signs the PROTECT Our Children Act of 2008, S. 17 as planned, ISPs will shoulder the responsibility of policing 'hash marks' of known child pornography content.

Government Awards Free Porn-free Broadband

The federal government has released access to a new spectrum of broadband service, and is licensing only those providers who promise to develop such services without porn or other obscene material on them. I am somewhat surprised that the adult community is not up in arms at the prospect of the government possibly pushing out other ISPs with a free service that is by definition, anti-pornography.

Your Vote COUNTS!!!

Eight years ago, many Democratic voters in Florida made a huge mistake when they assumed their votes didn't matter and it ended up costing our country dearly- particularly in the areas of first and fourth amendment protections.

Australia Announces Two-tiered Content Filtering

Australia's government seems intent on establishing national internet filters despite public outcry against the move and the fact that their last attempt at establishing national internet censorship was cracked by a teenager in a matter of days.
