The pissing match between Google and media mogul Rupert Murdoch continues. Though it appears author Bob Preston is more concerned with how Murdoch will change the search engine ballgame if he finally acts on his threat to pull out his NewsMedia sites in Google.

New Online Catalog Fails to Score
The SCORE Group has added a new interactive catalog that combines audio, video and text. The only problem is it’s a shining example of how to create an online catalog the WRONG WAY. They must not have any SEO people working for them or they’d know that Flash totally invisible to search engine unless it’s done in a particular way.
The Results Are In- Size Does Matter
Hitwise has released a new report showing that the length of search queries has increased over the past year. Apparently longer search queries, 5+ words in length, have increased by 10% and shorter search queries, 1 to 4 words, have decreased by 2%. This has got me thinking about what could have changed over the last year to affect people’s searches.
Google’s Results Go Designer Only
No one knows exactly what Google has done to their algorithms, but it’s apparent that they’ve made a major change that will have serious repercussions for SEOs. Google Breaks the Internet

So what exactly is so bad about Google AJAX? Well let me tell you… it will prevent anyone from tracking what keywords were used to find their site, making keyword tracking useless.
Google No Longer Endorses the Competition
While Google used to suggest that website owners register their sites not only with Google, but also with other competing directories, these guidelines have apparently been removed from their webmaster guidelines. This may indicate that Google is devaluing Yahoo's links, or may simply be an omission they've made in the interest of not promoting their competitors.

Using Log Files to Increase SEO Rankings
Your log files contain information about what phrases users are entering into search engines to find your site, and can provide a wealth of information on long-phrase searches used to find your site. While the total number of clicks for these types of keyphrases may be rather small, the chances of these users actually registering for your services are much higher than more general web traffic.
