Using Log Files to Increase SEO Rankings
Mon, 10/20/2008 - 22:23 — pocket-rockerYour log files contain information about what phrases users are entering into search engines to find your site, and can provide a wealth of information on long-phrase searches used to find your site. While the total number of clicks for these types of keyphrases may be rather small, the chances of these users actually registering for your services are much higher than more general web traffic.

One tool which might also help do something similar is called HitTail (http://www.hittail.com). It keeps track of all of the search engine terms from which users have been referred to your website. The idea is that if someone used a long tail keyword and ended up on your website, their may be additional opportunity in focusing on providing more content targeting that phrase.
Ahh, the importance of good analytics.
Long tail keyphrases are a great secret to success.
Save that keyphrase data.
