eBay Uncovers Cookie Surfing Plot

5
points

eBay has recently filed suit against 23 defendants who apparently used cookies hidden in tiny graphic files on their own websites to direct users to eBay auctions in such a manner that users were often unaware of being redirected in the first place. The defendants also allegedly used additional JavaScript technologies to hide their wrongdoing, which ultimately netted each defendant around $5000 in payouts.
