Why is .XXX Opposed by the Adult Industry?
Wed, 08/27/2008 - 16:23 — Manjo PlayerThe Free Speech Coalition specifically objects to the creation of a top level domain for .xxx. While it might seem intuitive that the adult industry would love to get their hands on domains such as BigTits.xxx and Blowjobs.xxx, a look at the greater implications of a .xxx domain name show that it would not benefit the adult industry, and would actually create greater censorship against erotic expressionism.

Then again, it would be criminal to sell it for $50,000 like other new branded TLDs.
Still, it seems like it's just a matter of time before this TLD comes into existence in one form or another.
Not being a slave to one registrar is one reason why this is not a good idea for adult but also it will allow governments to censor content a lot easier which brings up free speech issues.
I just think no one wants to loose out on one company claiming the rights to the whole TLD.
