Some of the oldest recorded sexually-themed images are contained in the relics from Pompeii: a city that was encapsulated and preserved in volcanic ash thousands of years ago. Frescos and other artifacts clearly show images of people engaging in sexual acts: some of which might be considered creative even by today's standards.
