Norway Takes the Sensible Route to Outlawing Prostitution

6
points

Following its reputation for sensible political stances, Norway is considering legislation to curb sex trafficking through its country by banning not the sale of- but rather the purchase of prostitution within its boarders. By punishing the purchase, rather than the sale, the law is intended to protect the 'victims' of prostitution, rather than its proponents.

I don't see how criminalizing the purchase of sex is going stop human trafficking.

Legalize it...and I will advertise it.

The SENSIBLE Route would be to legalize it.

It's nice to see them try a different approach and keeping the real victim in mind, but I fear we shall see down the road if this truly is a radical law that can help victim's of human trafficking or just another good intention that paved someones road to hell.
