Why Pirate When You Can Stream?

Everyone connected to Internet porn (one way or the other) knows that streaming video is one way to beat piracy. Based on a Global Web Index study that Kathee Brewer is reporting on, there is a lot more to be discovered about net user's attitudes towards streaming video. It also adds light on how people behave when it comes to peer to peer sharing and how we can use that to avert more piracy. The study opens up a lot more insightful stuff that the industry should take in consideration. Another important factor here is that Global Web Index study is expansive enough to cover various countries that are highly wired to the Internet.

But the big glaring hole in this study is will people pay for streaming video?

I hope the industry is listening to this and takes action... although probably not since most don't even issue take down notices for their pirated content.

Streaming does seem like an appropriate strategy against piracy since streaming, instead of downloading in full, makes consumption easier and more convenient. If the method to watch a movie is instantaneous, the convenience will trump a 'free' offering in most consumers eyes. Besides, piracy is a pain in the ass from the users perspective most often.
