The Pirates Bay Found Guilty

8
points

The founders, along with two employees, of The Pirate Bay have been sentenced to one year in jail in Sweden for breaking 33 copyright laws. The court found them guilty of helping users commit copyright violations and the four also were ordered to pay $3.6 million in damages to copyright holders such as Warner Bros., MGM, etc. This is my favorite part- Founder Peter Sunde said they will never pay the fine and he believes the legal process will eventually go their way without having to spend a single day in prison… Yeah right!

If I get convicted of a crime in Sweden can I also decide if I'm going to go to jail or pay my fine too! That's awesome.
