Fast Track Global Patents System : For Greed Or For Progress?

6
points

As a company who was first perceived as a provider of liberating and life-enhancing tools is sorely becoming a bully who wants everything for itself. Microsoft is pushing its weight down the World Intellectual Property Organization for more reforms that would enable them to get more of their patent claims approved. It appears that the computing/software giant is aggressively bullshitting the legal system for a quicker and much broader patent system. Much to the detriment of other companies working on innovations that may or may not compete with Microsoft. Now I can understand protecting one's turf, but can't they stake their claim without sounding so blatantly self-serving?

Is competition that crazy that every marketable innovation is a race on who can get to the riches first? It sure looks like it. And it looks like they are again exerting this pressure in an attempt to monopolize technology.

So much for the spirit of the Internet.

Try patenting anything in a third world country... You better know someone(to skip the 4 day wait in line), be extremely rich (like Microsoft) and come loaded with Imodium (you might be eating rat or dog through out your trip)
