I read this study that was recently released by the Digital Watermarking Alliance (DWA) and found it not only very interesting, but also hopeful that the answer to the war on piracy is on the horizon. The study was focused on whether the inclusion of Digital Serial Numbers (DSNs) in online content would discourage illegal file sharing. The results were positive and showed that 33% of a sample group would be discourage from illegally downloading content with DSNs and 52% would be deter from illegally uploading content.
